About Mindy Rozear
Wax. Fire. Reverence.
I discovered encaustic alongside my mom in the early days of her diagnosis. That personal beginning is part of my connection to the medium. For the past seven years, I’ve developed a self-taught, intuitive painting practice.
I work in encaustic, an ancient medium of pigmented beeswax fused with heat, creating original paintings that hold light and texture. Each piece is built in layers: wax applied, melted, scraped back, and fused again, until something quiet and true emerges.
My work is rooted in intention. I paint to slow down, to look closely, and to honor what is often overlooked: the garden, the small, the fleeting. My practice is as much about presence as it is about image-making.
Working with wax and fire, I let each painting unfold through the process of making. The rhythm of layering and fusing shapes the work, allowing it to reveal itself slowly.
My original paintings and fine art prints are made for collectors who want work that continues to give: imagery that invites a closer look and a personal connection. My original encaustic paintings shift with the light, hold texture, and carry the hand of the artist.
